Wedding Movies – Not Just for the Ladies
Of all the different movies ever made the ones that the majority of women like
to watch are the wedding movies. Every woman loves the romance and the suspense that go along with the story.
At the same time two simple little words can make a grown man cry and they are "wedding movie", for whatever reason most guys cannot stand this type of "Chick Flick.'
Perhaps it is the male's built in fear of commitment or the total lack of a romantic bone in their body, no one
knows for sure.
However over the years there have been a few wedding movies that fit the bill as far as movies that even the
guys will sit down and watch with their girls. Most of these movies are either comedies or feature big name stars
that have been known to play tough guys and the story, while built around the wedding focuses all around it as
well. Here are some of our favourites, if you have not seen them you should check them out.
Honeymoon in Vegas
Starring Nicolas Cage and Sarah Jessica Parker the movies centers on the typical man who has a terrible fear of
commitment and gets browbeaten to submission and agrees to a Las Vegas wedding. ON the way to their wedding James
Caan drops in to steal the bride, but after a couple of days Nicolas Cage wins his fiancé back with a little help
from a few Flying Elvises. Well there were more like one hundred of them who helped to make sure that the wedding
goes off with no further delays.
Father of the Bride
This comedy classic starring Steve Martin and Diane Keaton in which George Banks (Martin) has to learn how to
cope with getting old as his grow up. Madness as only Steve Martin can pull off ensues with scene after scene of
utter chaos as the wedding planner (Martin Short) works towards getting their daughter happily married. Wedding
movie or not this one will have the guys rolling on the floor long before it is time to say I do.
The Wedding Singer
Adam Sandler steps out of the mold with this simple movie about a guy who gets left at the altar and wants
nothing more than a wedding of his own. His character finally gets out of the dumps when he meets and falls in love
with Julia (Drew Barrymore) just before is due to get married. Set in the mid 80s so the music is perfect for the
30 to 40 crowd and you will see cameos from Billy Idol and Christine Taylor.
Creating wedding movies that even the guys will watch can be a tough challenge, even for Hollywood. Nevertheless
every once in a while they still manage to pull it off, some of our other favourite picks for the guys include So I
Married an Axe Murderer, Wedding Crashers and My Big, Fat, Greek Wedding which netted over $285 to make it one of
the highest grossing movies of all time. Next time you want to watch a movie with your man check out one these, sit
back together and enjoy the show.
