Money Talks Movie – A Review
When it comes to knowing how to make money car wash hustler Franklin Hatchett (Chris Tucker) has it all planned
out in the Money Talks movie directed by Brett Ratner. Well at least he does until he gets ratted out by a Channel
12 News reporter by the name of James Russell (Charlie Sheen.) After being busted and sentenced he is taken in
handcuffs and then the fun begins.
Jailbreak
To be taken to prison Hatchett is placed on the prison bus with a Frenchman named Raymond Villard (Gérard
Ismaël) who has been convicted of smuggling diamonds and is on his way to the big house for an extended stay.
However Villard's partner in crime already has a plan to free his buddy long before they get to prison. As they
head down the road Villard's partner Dubray (Frank Bruynbroek) blows up the bus to break Villard out.
In the ensuing chaos Villard and Hatchett both escape via a waiting helicopter and avoiding the cops. As they fly
away Hatchett overhears the location where the stolen diamonds have been stashed and manages to jump out of the
helicopter before the two smugglers can carry out their plans to silence him permanently.
The News at ten
Hatchett finds out that his name and face are all over the news and he finds out
that he is wanted as an accessory to the jailbreak. He needs to clear his name and finds that of all the
people he could call the only one that can help him out is the man who put him in jail in the first place,
James Russell. At this point we find out that James has just lost his job at Channel 12 and needs a big story
to get his job back.
What could be better than the guy who is currently featured as the top news story of the day calling him on the
phone and asking for his help? James figures to get the story of the hour and his job back at the same time.
As the two of them blast around town in the hopes of getting rich when they find the diamonds the scenes turn to
craziness and then violence as a gang war breaks out and a couple of the gangsters threaten to kill Frank. Many gun
shots and bazooka rounds later there is not a gang banger to be seen thanks to some very close friends of Frank's.
However James' name is now in the same news spot as Franks and the two must clear their names together.
In the end James takes out Raymond and friends with some well placed hand grenades under their chopper. With the
really bad guys out of the way, the choices they have to make is the sell the diamonds and make some money quick or
turn them over and clear their names.
They both opt to do the right thing, well mostly any as the keep a couple of the diamonds. The Money Talks movie
goes a long towards proving that honestly is usually the best policy, well being mostly honest anyway.
